What is the Latin American Harp Association and how does it work?ALDA is a non-profit association made up of harpists, students, teachers, independent musicians and harp lovers from all over Latin America, whose corporate contribution is intended to manage and provide development opportunities to the community of harpists on the continent. For example, through donations, master classes, workshops, talks, and other events, both virtual and in-person.

How many Latin American countries are represented in ALDA?The number of countries represented varies each year, but ranges between ten and fifteen countries.

What are the official languages of ALDA?At ALDA we try to ensure that official communication is offered in Spanish and Portuguese, the two most spoken languages in Latin America.

How many members does ALDA have?We have approximately 60 members and the number is growing every day!

What is the Artistic and Directive Commission?The Artistic and Directive Commission is the body that is in charge of all the administration and decision-making of ALDA at a general level. It is made up of five members from five different countries with the purpose of having diverse ideas and perspectives that respond to the needs of different regions of the continent.

I would like to get more involved in the work that ALDA does. Is it possible to help with event organization, administration, etc.?Of course! Our organization takes a lot of work to keep it running and your contribution is welcome. What are my benefits as an ALDA member?As a member of the association you will have unlimited access to our website and the Latin American harp forum. In addition, you will have the possibility of advertising your concerts, albums and projects from our social networks and official newsletter. On the other hand, you will be able to access all our events as a listening or active participant throughout the year, and you will have the possibility of requesting a discount at Seguros Anderson for your instrument. What are my responsibilities as an ALDA member?Being part of the Latin American Harp Association is being part of a community. As an ALDA member, you are included in a support network that primarily keeps alive its own purpose: to promote the development and growth of harpists across the continent. Therefore, ALDA members have the responsibility of getting involved in the problems they face in their immediate environment, making them visible and communicating them with us so that among all the associates we can solve, help and propose solutions in the short, medium and long term. Thus, each ALDA member must recognize that they can receive benefits as well as contribute your help, your experiences and your point of view to achieve a good flow of open, inclusive and productive communication, which makes it possible to achieve your own goals and those of others.

What is my membership money used for?All money raised by ALDA, both from membership and donations, is used entirely to cover administrative expenses, the organization of events, the sending of donations received and other projects that directly benefit the Latin American harpist community.

How do I request to advertise my events/projects through ALDA?You can send us your event or project by leaving us all the information from the forms section in the Members Space, or by sending us an email to contacto@arpalatinoamerica.org Once done, we will contact you as soon as possible! Your events will be advertised on social networks and the ALDA calendar.

How many events are held during the year?ALDA holds approximately between three and twelve events during the year that cover different topics and are offered in three modalities: in-person, online, or hybrid. Some events are held in person in specific countries, such as the maintenance tours of Spanish technician Enric de Anciola. However, one or more activities are always done in a hybrid format so that the entire community can benefit from said event.

What types of events take place during the year?At ALDA, we try to ensure that the events cover various needs that the harpist may have. Every year, we invite an internationally recognized teacher to offer master classes; We organize workshops focused on topics related to pedagogy, as well as interpretation sciences; We organize harp maintenance tours in conjunction with the Spanish technician Enric de Anciola, who travels to one or two countries per year to regulate the instruments; and we offer conferences on the history of the harp in Latin America and Latin American repertoire.

In what language are the activities carried out?At ALDA we mainly use Spanish and Portuguese for official communications and events. However, classes offered by international teachers are offered in English.

ALDA is always looking to collaborate with its members to organize activities that promote the development of the harp in the region. Who can adjust the harps during maintenance tours by technician Enric de Anciola?In order to regulate your harp and receive the discount offered by technician Enric de Anciola, you must be a member of ALDA before the start of said tour.

How can I request that technician Enric de Anciola travel to my country?ALDA generally begins the process of organizing next year's events during the months of July and August to have enough time to organize the budget and apply for available financial aid. How can I donate to ALDA?You can donate any day of the year through our website, under the DONATE tab. In addition, we organize donation campaigns at the end of each year to cover the costs of the events that will be offered during the next twelve months.

Can I only donate money?No! We also receive donations of strings, sheet music and study materials. For us, the cost of purchasing and shipping such materials exceeds what most can afford. ALDA will be in charge of sending the donations received to the educational institutions that need it.

On what dates are the Donation Campaigns carried out and what is their purpose?ALDA holds fundraising campaigns at the end or beginning of the year, and in each edition, we raise money for something specific, such as for organizing events or to cover the membership costs of young harpists from Latin America who have difficulties joining.

How can I help ALDA if I am not a musician?Although our activities focus largely on providing educational content for harpists, all people are welcome to join ALDA, whether they are musicians or not. If you only want to help us financially, you can do so by donating directly on our website. In addition, our beginning and end of the year campaigns are the association's most important events to raise funds for future projects and finance activities and events throughout the year.
