Our history

Latin America is a vast territory where each country has various political, economic and social characteristics that directly affect the development and teaching of the pedal harp. During the COVID-19 pandemic, five young Latin American harpists, inspired by the Latin American Encounters held in previous decades, decided to come together to create an organization that would promote exchange, communication and support between harpists on the continent.

ALDA was legally founded on June 8, 2021, in Mexico City, and made public on August 9, 2021. Our organization has approximately 60 members from between twelve and fifteen different countries, including countries on other continents. Since our founding, we have held numerous in-person and online events taught by professors of excellence and global recognition, such as the following:

-Master classes

-Conferences on Latin American repertoire

-Psychology and Interpretation Sciences

-Harp maintenance workshops

-Spaces for conversation and exchange

Since 2022, we have had the support of Ibermúsicas for the production of in-person events in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica and El Salvador, as well as online events. We also create ties with sister organizations such as the Friends of the Harp Civil Association, the Colombia Harp Meeting, Societé des Harpistes de Montreal, World Harp Congress, among others.
